Harold Wallace May was born September 3, 1926, the son of Marion and Anna May of Johnstown, Pennsylvania. Harold is survived by two of his brothers, Donald May and Wayne May. His eldest brother, Paul May, preceded him to heaven.
Harold served our country in the Navy at the end of World War II. After completing his training in the Great Lakes area, his unit served in the Pacific and the waters of Japan. He was honorably discharged.
Harold met Wilhelmina in Cleveland, Ohio. They spent 48 wonderful years together as husband and wife. Together they raised three children, Janet (May) Ousley, William (Bill) May, and Barbara (May) Matson. Their family enjoyed every summer together camping across America in their red camper trailer.
Harold will be remembered as a hard worker. He began his career as an auto mechanic until 1954 when he and his brother started Coast Redwood Manufacturing where they manufactured patio furniture. Harold became the sole owner several years later and continued his business until retiring in the early 1990s.
Harold had a love of the water. He had several boats in his lifetime and enjoyed teaching others how to water ski. His boats were named "Trust Me" and when the waters were rough and Willy would begin to pray, Harold would respond "Trust Me"!
Most of all, Harold was a man of God and shared this close relationship to the Lord with those around him. Harold served as a Deacon at the first church they attended after moving to California and also assisted with the building of a chapel. After moving to West Covina in 1972, his family joined the Bethany Baptist Church. Harold and Willy taught Sunday school classes there. Willy later passed away in 1997.
Later Harold met his second wife, Jacqueline. They were both members of South Shores Church where they were married in 1999. The two spent over 20 years traveling the world and volunteering at the church.
He is survived by his wife Jackie, his daughter Janet Ousley of Cartersville, Georgia, his son Bill May and his wife Lisa of New York, and Barbara Matson and husband Daryl of Layton, Utah. He is also survived by 5 grandsons and 11 great grandchildren.
