Who is Jesus?
This powerful message takes us into Luke chapter 5, where we encounter two transformative healing stories that reveal the heart of Jesus. We meet a man covered with leprosy, isolated from society, forced to live outside his community, announcing his uncleanness to everyone he encountered. Yet this desperate man falls before Jesus with remarkable faith, saying 'Lord, if you will, you can make me clean.' What happens next is astonishing: Jesus does what no rabbi would dare to do - he reaches out and touches the untouchable. Instead of becoming unclean himself, Jesus transfers his holiness to the broken man, instantly healing him. We then witness four friends who refuse to let obstacles stop them from bringing their paralyzed friend to Jesus. When the crowd blocks their way, they climb onto the roof, tear it open, and lower their friend down. Jesus responds by addressing the man's deepest need first - not his physical paralysis, but his spiritual condition, declaring 'Your sins are forgiven.' These stories challenge us to examine our own faith: Are we bringing people to Jesus despite obstacles? Are we more concerned with physical comfort or spiritual wholeness? Do we recognize that Jesus has both the compassion to touch our brokenness and the divine authority to forgive our sins? The message is clear - sin, like leprosy, corrupts and separates us from God, but Jesus bridges that gap with grace.
