Who is Jesus?

This powerful exploration of Luke 9:18-27 challenges us to examine the foundation of our faith through one of the most pivotal questions in Scripture: Who do we say Jesus is? While the crowds offered safe answers comparing Jesus to prophets of old, Peter declared Him the Christ of God. Yet even Peter struggled to understand what this truly meant. He expected a conquering Messiah who would bring immediate victory and glory, but Jesus redefined discipleship entirely. He spoke of suffering, rejection, and death before resurrection. This passage reveals a stunning truth: we cannot separate who Jesus is from what He calls us to do. Following Christ means taking up our cross daily, dying to our own plans and ambitions, and surrendering control. It means choosing forgiveness when we would rather hold grudges, stepping forward when we would rather stay comfortable, and speaking up when we would rather remain silent. The Christian life is not about gaining worldly success while keeping Jesus as our eternal insurance policy. It is about making Him Lord of every moment, every decision, every relationship. When we lose our lives for His sake, we discover the life we were always meant to live. The question remains personal and urgent: What will we do with Jesus? Will we merely admire Him from the crowd, or will we follow Him wherever He leads, even through suffering, trusting that the cross is never the end of the story?
