I Can't Do It Alone

This powerful message takes us on a journey from the mountaintop to the valley, exploring one of the most dramatic moments in Jesus' ministry—the Transfiguration. We're invited to examine why our spiritual highs often don't translate into lasting life change. The sermon brilliantly contrasts two scenes from Luke 9: first, the glorious mountaintop experience where Peter, James, and John witness Jesus transformed in dazzling light alongside Moses and Elijah, hearing God's own voice declare Jesus as His chosen Son. Then immediately, we descend to find the other disciples unable to heal a demon-possessed boy despite having been given authority to do so. This jarring transition reveals a profound truth about our faith journey—we cannot sustain transformation through our own strength. The disciples tried to heal in their own power rather than relying on Jesus, and we often do the same. We leave retreats, conferences, or powerful worship experiences determined to change, only to find ourselves back in old patterns by Monday. The message challenges us to move beyond momentary spiritual experiences to daily dependence on the Holy Spirit, being rooted in Scripture together with other believers, and intentionally remembering God's faithfulness. True transformation isn't about trying harder; it's about relying more completely on Jesus every single day.
