My Goodness!

Aug 9, 2026    Pastor Ty Guy

What does it mean that God is good — not just occasionally, or when life feels manageable, but all the time? This message takes us on a journey through Scripture to discover that goodness is not a quality God occasionally displays. It is the very core of who He is. From the opening pages of Genesis, where God looks at His creation and declares it good, to the Psalms where David invites us to taste and see that the Lord is good, we are reminded that every good thing in existence finds its source in God. But sin entered the world and fractured what was whole. And yet God never abandoned His creation. Instead, He has been at work ever since — restoring, redeeming, and pursuing us with a goodness that chases us down. Psalm 23 tells us that goodness and mercy will follow us all the days of our lives, and the word follow here means to pursue, to chase. God's goodness is not passive. It is relentless. The fruit of the Spirit is goodness, and that means any genuine goodness we carry is not self-manufactured. It grows as we stay connected to Christ, the way fruit grows when it remains on a healthy vine. As we walk through this message together, we are challenged to ask ourselves: is the goodness of God's Spirit becoming visible in our daily lives, in our families, in our workplaces, and in our communities?
