Keep the Lights On
What does it mean to truly be ready? In Luke 12, we are confronted with one of the most searching questions we will ever face: if Jesus returned today, would he find us awake, faithful, and engaged? This message walks us through the vivid imagery Jesus used to describe servants waiting for their master to return from a wedding feast, lamps burning, eyes open, hearts expectant. The spiritual lesson cuts through the noise of daily life and asks us to examine how we are actually living. Are we managing what God has entrusted to us, our time, relationships, resources, and influence, with genuine faithfulness? Or have we quietly slipped into the habit of assuming we have more time than we do? The warning is not meant to frighten us but to awaken us. Jesus deliberately left the timing of his return unknown, not to frustrate us, but because he knows how naturally we drift toward procrastination when we think the deadline is far off. The call here is not to anxious striving but to steady, purposeful faithfulness, the kind that looks the same whether anyone is watching or not.
